Pomegranate & Strawberry Red Wine Sangria (Quite Good Food) is a nice treat of a drink. You can replace the strawberries with oranges in winter, but either way it contains the vegan-friendly orange liqueur of Cointreau and juice and seeds from a pomegranate. Serve with soda water and fresh mint.
Sangria is a boozy drink from Spain that is served hot or cold, and typically made from wine with fruits (lemon, lime, grapes and berries) or sometimes with peaches, apples and pears. Usually sweetened with sugar and orange juice, it is usually made with red wine, though sometimes other wines and spirits are used. A bit like Champagne, you can’t call a drink Sangria unless it’s made in certain areas, under EU law. You can check your chosen wines or spirits are vegan at Barnivore.
Ginger Peach Sangria (Love & Lemons) makes a lovely summer drink. It’s made with fruit, Grand Marnier and white wine.
Mock Sangria (Wallflower Kitchen) is ideal if you are the designated driver, as it’s alcohol-free. It’s made with mixed chopped fruit with cranberry, grape and orange juice, topped up with sparkling water.
